As the moon shone brightly down onto the lapping surface of the glistening lake, its only companion reached out a foot and dipped there toes in gently, ripples speading from the epicenter of the skin on water connection. All was silent, and not even the soft breeze made a sound, neither the soft waers hitting the sandy banks.
Marcus Donilohov would often spend a night or two down at the lake edge in the dead of night, while at school. Though he was from from at school now...
Taking a break from his 'grounds watch', covered by Nymphadora, he wanted just a moment of reflection. Just a second to think back over his plans. Or planned. And it seemed that this old spot at the lakes edge was a handy one for such a revisit. It seemed untouhed, unchanged. Far less than he had. No longer a tall sixth year taking a breather from Quidditch. No noise. No students. No threat
or so he thought....

Well. So started yet another night at Hogwarts. Same Castle. Same students. Same Reason for being there. Different person on duty with her. After all, seeing as she usually graced the company of Kingsley or Arthur...perhaps Bill somedays, she hadn't really had too many new members of company during the three years she had been stationed there for the Order. Tonight, though...tonight was different. She stepped out of the Castle, as Remus walked past, relieving her of the two shifts she was controlling. She felt him brush past her, and she closed her eyes. She had spent so little time around HQ, nowadays, that all her close friendships within the Order felt strange, and stretched. Even her very close friendship with Remus was faltering, which made her feel incredibly bad. Opening her eyes again, she saw that Remus had passed her, and that she was alone again.
She walked, feeling regretful, down to the Lake, the waters looking calm and irridescent in the moonlight. She smiled as she saw the person she had been on watch with - Marcus. He was a newer Auror and the newest addition the Order, and it had been his first night out on watch. She'd let him slip away for a while (something she knew would be commented on at the next Meeting, and she was quietly dreading,) and she had taken care of both watches. Now that Remus had taken over shortly for both of them, as Arthur made his way to the School, she was quietly dreading the next time they talked...no doubt he'd reprimand her for her course of action...but such was her life.
Walking down, trying to smile as naturally as she could, she walked up behind him quietly, and tapped him lightly on each shoulder. "Wotcha, Marcus," she said, her voice calm and light. "Our shift's over, now...Remus' just arrived and Arthur's on his way...so...whenever you're ready, we can go." She saw his feet dipping in and out of the water, and she quickly added, "But, we don't have to go too soon, if you'd prefer just to sit here."
Sitting next to him, she pulled her pink hair out of the ponytail it was in, and then turned it a reddish-auburn colour, and made it longer, so the straight hair now came to the base of her spine. Tapping her shoes, they suddenly appeared next to her, and she dipped her feet in alongside him. "Do you mind if I...?" She asked, hoping she hadn't just alienated him. Her hair flowing gently in the breeze, she looked to the moon, and to the stars.

Tonks arrival had gone unnoticed by Marcus. Jumping as she addressed him, he pulled his foot from the water, his heart skipping a beat. Yet as soon as he realized who had spoken, he relaxed. It was dangerous and he knew it, the fact that he hadn't been aware of another's arrival. He had to take more care. If she'd been a Death Eater... or worse... he'd have had it. Even though he'd now settled, he was still surprised by Tonks' arrival, as he was sure that she should have been up at the castle. He'd only momentarily started his secretly given break. That was, until she explained.
Watching her for a moment, admiring her talents as her hair color and length transformed delicately, as though the gentle breeze itself had re-voked its color and pushed the silky hair from her scalp. He'd always held a place of awe for the metamorphagus, how she could change her appearance at will. If only he himself could posses such a talent...
"No, no... of course not..." he muttered, from beside her, his face also staring untoward the clear sky and the shining stars that glittered in the navy sky. yet, something compelled him to look back to Nymphadora. Her face seemed thoughtful. Far away. "Whats wrong...?" he continued, with a whisper.

Tonks laughed as her entrance had been missed by Marcus, and she smiled lightly. "Tut-tut." she said, trying not to give into the fits of giggles that were rising up inside her. "You need to be more aware of your surroundings, Marcus! I hope you're slightly more awake when you're on duty as an Auror!" She smiled, not meaning to sound harsh, and patted him on the shoulder. "Nah, don't worry. It's your first time back here, I don't expect you to be fully alert...believe me," she said, thinking back to her first time back at Hogwarts since leaving, when she'd been on patrol with Remus, as he showed her the "ins" and "outs" of the task. "I wasn't. Remus had to keep bringing me back from my thoughts...it was actually kind of funny, really, now I think of it!"
She heard him speak to her as she gazed up, her mouth titled downwards slightly. "Huh? Oh..." she said, ditractedly, coming back from her thoughts. "Nothing...nothing, really." She said, quietly. Much of the Order knew about her feelings for Remus, and she wasn't sure if they'd let Marcus into it. She hoped they had...but then again, she didn't. It'd be nice to know they all had the courtesy to let her decide whom she wished to tell, at least.
She sighed gently, and then looked back at Marcus. "I've been neglecting the Order recently, or so it feels like I have," she muttered quietly. "I guess I haven't been concentrating on the Order as much since the Ministry's been pushing us all that little too far, you know what I mean...? It's been pressurising the...friendships...I hold within the Order, and I just have had so little time to dedicate solely on my missions and so forth, for the Order." She closed her eyes, her breath escaping in a short sigh. "Tonight was the first time I've been back to HQ for a month or so. It hasn't changed much, of course...but it felt like I'd left everyone to do their jobs....and not bothered to attempt to do mine."
