Sybill stood in the Great Hall, reading the instructions the Headmaster had given her. No bangles or beads were in sight, her over-sized spectacles perched on the end of her nose, as she peered at the parchment. She had got around nineteen-twentieths of the list done, and was left with the final few touches.
"Silver Baubles... Silver tablecloths... Tables to be at either side of the room while minding the fire..." She flicked her wand three times, the baubles in midair; tables moving to the edge of the room while silver tablecloths were fired onto them. She admired her craftwork for a moment, and then, with a resigned sigh, she looked back at the list.
"Candles to be suspended at the height of the Christmas Tree's top, Silver chandelier suspended from magical ceiling..." She stopped,. and re-read the instruction. She waved her wand once and the candles drifted upwards...but she cursed under her breath with exasperation at the other request. "Merlin's spectacles..." She murmured, as she looked up at the magical ceiling, a beautiful sunset in her sights. "...How does he...I have to...Up there?" She said, in awe. Looking at the chandelier at her feet, she wiped a speck of tea leaf from her skirt and moved her wand in an upwards motion. The chandelier swung and swayed as it rose towards the ceiling, and she held her breath as it clicked into place on the moving image.
Sighing with relief, she collapsed into the nearest chair, and then looked at the list with a hint of loathing in her features. Reading the last request, she smiled and looked at the list as if it was her best friend. "Have a glass of sherry; you deserve it" was the last thing on the list. The room was covered in fake snow and glitter, and there was music playing softly in the background, waiting for the students to arrive. Sybill, pouring sherry from the end of her wand into a glass teacup, sat in the chair, in her favourite skirt and top, and smiled.
The Inner Eye told her than tonight would be a night to remember, even for the teaching staff...
