Natalie sighed and dropped her bag onto the thick oak table. THUMP! She had got stuck on the changing staircases coming from the library and had no pass. She decided that a quick stop at the Great Hall wouldn't do any harm. With a glance at her schedule, she reassured herself by seeing that indeed this was her studying/free period. Natalie shook her head as the thoughts scattered. She had a ton of Homework, thanks to Flitwick, McGonogall, Snape, and Trelawney. Natalie sighed and filled a goblet of pumpkin juice wearily. She took a sip of the cool, sweet liquid. It felt so good against her throat. She opened her Potions text book and closed it. How could she possibly study at a time like this? She spent all night -last week-writing a letter to Lupin, asking for his opinion on leaving school and joining him in the OotP. But she sent that letter such a long time ago and Lupin wassure to be in Grimmauld Place...right? Every noise she heard, she jumped and looked up hoping to see her tawny Owl, Edward. Sighing with defeat, Nat forced herself to read her horrid assigned text pages.

From the moment he'd opened his eyes, it hadn't been the best of days for Colin Creevey. Not only had his dormitory friends failed to wake him from his slumber, he'd misplaced his charms text book, ripped a huge hole in his robes after getting there hem caught in the portrait and then managed that all his panicking had been in vain. Why? Because fortune would have it that the first lesson of the day had been a free study period.
Shaking his head and trying his best to turn his robes in to hide the tear in his clothing, he sat at the table, banging his shin as he sat. Cursing his bad luck, along with himself, he pulled a large tray of toast and began grabbing many peices and sliding them onto the golden plate infront of him. KNowing his luck today, the trays would probably empty downwards into the kitchen before he had chance to eat anything.
It was then that he spotted Natalie, girl in his own house. Lifting a hand, sending an empty gobelt tumbeling he waved, only to grimace and try his best to grab it before it fell from the table. "Pfft. Lucky it was empty..." he muttered.

Natalie looked over and saw Colin. "Oh, hey," she sighed. Putting her head down on her text book and looked across the room at the Slytherin table. They were laughing. Hufflepuffs; grinning and chatting, Ravenclaws; chatting excitedly about their assignments. Then there was her and Colin. Both rather grumpy and tired. Colin had a huge hole in his robes. "Woah, what happened??" Natalie said with wide eyes. She passed Colin some pumpkin juice. She didn't wait for him to answer her question. She was excited to talk to someone. Nat's been poring over her books all day. "Ick. I'm having the worst day. I was actually looking forward to the beginning of the year." She gulped down more pumpkin juice, shaking her head. Natalie summoned some toast and began chomping it down. Her shoe squeaked as she shifted into her better position and jumped looking at the windows. No owl deliverys. "Ugggghhhh!" she groaned, disappointed. Not just hoping for the letter from Lupin; but the Daily Prophet and Quibbler too. She liked seeing how far they could stretch the truth in their ridiculous articles. Alas; the day already seemed over, yet only half way through. Nat took a deep breath then slammed her head on the table and put her head down. "Ugggghhh!!!" she groaned again.
